April Hutto came to Lake Psychological after twelve years of practice as a hospitalist at Prisma Health. April received her Master’s degree from Baylor University as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She attended the University of South Carolina for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Post Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified in Family Practice and board eligible in Psychiatric Mental Health.
During April’s sixteen years as a Nurse Practitioner she has worked internationally providing health care to underserved people. April has experience working in disaster relief and is excited to bring this experience to help serve people who have suffered trauma. April has been a frontline worker during COVID-19 and one of her passions is to help those whose lives have been affected by this.
April enjoys working with people of all ages. She provides medical management and psychotherapy. She typically employs a Cognitive Behavioral approach but also uses other modalities best suited for her patient. Other approaches used are Acceptance Commitment (ACT), DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. April is passionate about helping people live life to the fullest even when they are struggling with issues such as Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and Bipolar Disorder.
